EVB7251

The EVB7251 is an evaluation board for the KD7251 multigigabit chip. The boards allow optical communication links up to 10Gb/s and operate as a media converter between the optical BASE-AU port and the SFP+ module..

The EVB7251 along with the rest of the components provides the functional and performance evaluation capabilities requested by the automotive OEM, TIER-1, or test house, enabling product designers to successfully evaluate KDPOF’s technology and to shorten the time to market.

Typical use allows the user to plug in a standard optical SFP+ module and enjoy a media-converter functionality. Complementary items are provided, such as optical fiber cable. 

The KDPOF EVB7251 is a board aimed for a comprehensive evaluation of the KD7251- C0. There are two board versions: 

• EVB7251 5Gb/s: its optical interface complies with IEEE Std 802.3cz, 5GBASE-AU PHY type. 
• EVB7251 10Gb/s: it works by making a direct bidirectional bit-per-bit electrical- to-optical conversion so that the data encoding is the same in both interfaces. Therefore, operation in 10Gb/s is performance-limited.
